History

The Free Methodist Medical Fellowship was organized
December 15, 1960 by a group of physicians of the Free Methodist Church who were looking for ways to challenge each other in Christian stewardship. The meeting took place in Chicago, Illinois.

TO OUR CHURCHES IN THIS AREA
 

FRIDAY EVENING

 8:30- 9:45    Reaching out to those with Chronic Disease
                Parish Nursing Fellowship
 9:45-11:00   Prevention and Healing of Substance Abuse through the Church

11:15-12:30  Mental Illness and the Church, Dr. Timothy Boyd
12:30- 1:30   Lunch

AFTERNOON: Free Time
Meetings of Free Methodist Medical Fellowship and Parish Nursing
will take place at some point in the afternoon

7:00  Sharing of actual church related programs that reach out
    to those with physical and mental needs.

SPEAKERS

Dr. Stephen Charles Mott,  author of Biblical Ethics and Social Change
(Oxford U., 1982) and A Christian Perspective on Political Thought (Oxford
U., 1993), is pastor of the Cochesett United Methodist church in West
Bridgewater, MA.  He was Professor of Christian Social Ethics at
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary for twenty-five years.  He has a regular
column, "From the Word," in the United Methodist publication, Christian
Social Action.  He received his Ph.D. in the study of religion from Harvard
University in 1972.

Registration : (before Sept. 1)  50 dollars per professional
                            Free for nonprofessional spouses
                               10 dollars for students
           (after Sept. 1)    add 20 dollars to the above rates

If paid by check to the Center for Christian Social Ministry before 8/25/03
    Single: $190     Double: $260    (includes room and meals)
Reservations can be made directly with the hotel, but the costs will be $230
for single and $283.62 for double package.  After August 25, you can still
send a check, but reservations and price cannot be guaranteed.

Meals only: 50 dollars if paid by check to the Center for Christian Social
Ministry.  Individual meals are available but need to be ordered in advance.

For students and others with limited income, there will be a few Free
Methodist homes and other lower cost lodgings available.  There are some
partial scholarships available for medical, nursing and social work students.
