The Miller eMailer
…a message from your medical missionaries in Mexico!! September 2004
La
Manantial de Vida (The Fountain of Life Church).
The third church in Nogales now has a name and continues to meet in a small building on the property. Many neighborhood children are attending as a result of the weekly Kids Club. Hannah enjoys making the crafts with these grade school kids.
Myers join the team in Mexico City
This month the Myers left Nogales and are now in Mexico City assisting in church planting and VISA teams. We miss them here but look forward to working with them in Mexico City next year. Bill and Shirley Gray have come from Seattle to work with Mexico VISA teams. Thank you for praying during this time of transition for our Mexico team.
Meet the neighbors
As we spend more time on our street, we have more opportunities to meet those living around us. In the evening, many neighbors sit outside along the street and unwind from the day. Carmen lets Diego play in the dirt while they are waiting for Alfredo to come home from work. She and Janette are able to share toddler stories. Ventura holds her one year old niece and brings out extra chairs to welcome anyone passing by. Maria Elena is an older woman who is rough on the outside but now smiles when she sees our girls. We are learning much about Mexico and about the practice of hospitality from these neighbors. Do you know the names of your neighbors? Are you willing to take the first step toward building a friendship with them? It isn’t easy for us either but God has placed us here (and you in your cities) to be his ambassadors. We pray that God gives you the courage to join us in that mission.
Prayer requests:
- Manantial de Vida church and kids club
- Productive times of Spanish study as our tutor is available again after a busy summer
- Pennsylvania medical mission team October 5-9 to San Luis Rio Colorado. Joel is joining this group.
Praises:
- Deepening friendships with church members. Joel went with the men to a Rancho Betania retreat last weekend. Basketball and food are universal languages!
- Janette is involved in two women’s Bible studies and is enjoying the fellowship with women from the churches.
