Remembrance:
How Your Church Can Be Involved
Nearly
everyone remembers where they were when they first heard the news of the
September 11th terrorist attacks on America. The world stood still as
we watched the horrific events unfold, asking why, how and who. In just
a few weeks, the world will mark the one-year anniversary of those attacks
with thousands of memorial services.
Mission America, in partnership with Campus Crusade, is coordinating a
nationwide effort to share the gospel through appropriate anniversary
memorial services this September 11, 2002.
If your church would like to participate, consider these evangelism initiatives:
- Plan an appropriate anniversary memorial service in your church for
Wednesday evening, September 11. (A brief video being prepared by Campus
Crusade will be available as well as Fallen But Not Forgotten,
booklets that share the stories of those who found peace and comfort
from God throughout the tragedy interwoven with a call to a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ.)
- Conduct a door-to-door distribution of the booklets with an invitation
to the memorial service in your community.
- On Sunday, September 8, have the booklets and inviations available
for your church members to give to friends and family. Be sure to put
your church label on the back of the booklets.)
- Bathe this effort in prayer, for without him, we can do nothing!
A free Pastor/Church Kit with suggested bulletin inserts, newsletter
articles and worship ideas is available online at www.911remembrance.com.
