I have just read Hitler's Cross: The Revealing Story of How the Cross of Christ Was Used As a Symbol of the Nazi Agenda — by Erwin W. Lutzer (with a foreword by Ravi K. Zacharias.It is certainly an eye-opener with much history and information about the roll of the church — including how Hitler divided it.

The Swastika was adopted as the new cross in the cathedral where Luther had preached the "cross of Christ" four hundred years before.

When Bismarck was installed as Prime Minister [of Prussia], he said, "The great questions of the day will not be settled by resolutions and majority vote … but by blood and iron."
It is worth reading …
