Humility: The Journey Toward Holiness
by Andrew Murray
Published by Bethany House, 2001

Reviewed by Gerry Coates

This short classic by Andrew Murray has forever changed my perception of humility. Rather than viewing humility from a perspective of self-deprecation or self-abasement, Murray opens the doors to a view of humility as "unceasing, absolute dependence on God." Murray also secures the bond between humility and holiness: "The one infallible test of our holiness will be our humility before God and others. Humility is the bloom and the beauty of holiness."

I recommend this book as essential for anyone pursuing a vital relationship with Jesus. I have referred to it often in my own spiritual journey as well as quoting from it in preaching.
