IL, Senior Teen Champs |
After
having studied the Gospel of Matthew this past year, about 625 youth
Bible quizzers and coaches from 114 teams from around the United
States (and also from Japan) gathered at Greenville College in Greenville,
Illinois on July 5-9, 2005, for Free Methodist Bible Quiz Finals.
The team from Alton, IL, was crowned grand champion for winning
the Senior Teen Veteran A division. (Additional results are given
below.) Many of the teens testified to God's working in their lives
as this past year they have studied the scriptures.

dramatic presentation of the Apostle Peter was a chapel highlight

Chapel
services were a great time of spiritual encouragement and challenge.
Speakers included Bishop Les Krober, Chaplain Steve Coates, a dramatic
presentation of the Apostle Peter, and Rick Morgan leading a concert
of prayer. Four persons who have lived godly lives as they have
applied the scripture they learned through quizzing were inducted
into the Bible Quizzing Hall of Fame: Dale Martin (professor
at Greenville College), Lyle McCoon, Jr (pastor), Peter
Samuelson (Christian lawyer) and Doug Whitlock (quiz
coach who was killed in an accident just prior to Quiz Finals).
Several youth ministry training seminars were offered to help equip
the adult leadership (coaches) for even more effective ministry.

Greenville
College provided activities for the quizzers, and arranged a fantastic
"luau" banquet for the closing awards ceremony. The worship
experiences were uplifting, and during the communion/testimony service,
quizzers testified for over an hour about how God had worked in
their lives this season. There was plenty of quizzing, with competitions
held simultaneously in 50 locations across the college campus. In
their free time, quizzers enjoyed sports and making new friends.
Thousands of pictures of the event and details about the tournament
are available on the FM Bible quizzing web site (www.fmquizzing.org).
Mike Hopper and Eric Young served as the co-directors of this event,
and Paul Stackhouse was in charge of statistical operations.
