God's
Abundant Provisions
It's hard to realize, but 15 short-term medical teams from Hong Kong have served in Cambodia already. The last team sent 34 people. Each team has experienced God's abundant provisions. Cambodia's international airport has been completely redone already and is much nicer than the previous terminal. The airport staff is also more polite and well organized. This country is making progress! Outside the terminal, seeing the missionaries and local church brothers and sisters again was a time of close fellowship. After eating lunch, the team toured the war memorial museum. It documents the horrors of the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s. Every visit here makes one feel that this country has many lasting hurts because of the past civil war. It is good that Cambodia is progressing, but who can take away the peoples' hurts and wipe away the tears of their hearts?
One part of the team stayed at the House of Love. Each one joined in cleaning the place and organizing the supplies. It was quickly put in order. Cambodia's weather is hot. Although November is winter, the temperature was still 27 degrees C (80 degrees F). In Hong Kong we don't bother about the weather, because if it's hot we have air conditioning. But in Cambodia where there was no air conditioning God provided everything we needed. He gave us fresh breezes, overnight rains and cooler weather so that we could sleep well. Sometimes at night we would hear the sounds of birds calling and insects chirping in a symphony. They bore witness to God's wonderful creation! One evening one of the groups stayed overnight in Kampot in the home of one of the believers. The owner's daughter was sick with malaria, which is spread by mosquitoes. Thank God that with the care of the team members and prayer, by the next morning this girl's fever was gone and her symptoms had lessened and stabilized. God watched over the safety of this girl and the team members. He is faithful and unchanging. Although difficulties arise, God turns hardships into blessings. We also thank the Lord for letting us see the work He is building up in Cambodia. On previous visits, the villages the team visited did not yet have church buildings. Now they have raised up church buildings and the we had the opportunity of worshiping together with the believers in their churches. In addition, the believers we got to know in the past are now maturing in their faith. One sister whom we met before had been the only believer in her family and she was concerned for them. On this trip we discovered her entire family now trusts in the Lord and serves in the church. Cambodia's churches and believers give witness to the power of the gospel! May the name of God be mighty in Cambodia, and may the power of the gospel be preached in every corner of this country. In the Lord, |
