Latin America/ Ecuador
pastor, leadership development
Kevin
and Nancy will begin their third term of service upon returning
to Ecuador in June 2004, after finishing their one-year home assignment.
The Dunbars' ministry assignment this term will focus almost completely
on developing and teaching lay leaders and pastors. For Kevin this
will involve teaching FM seminary modules, traveling to all of the
churches within the Ecuador FM District, and making occasional trips
to Central America. Nancy's involvement will include the organization
and preparation of leadership materials, reaching out to the needs
of pastors' wives within the Ecuador District, helping with Child

Tabitha's
Journal
by Tabitha Dunbar
Hi,
my name is Tabitha Dunbar. I am 12 years old, and I am a missionary kid.
We have been living in Ecuador for four years since the last time that
we came to the U.S. Maybe if I give you a peek at my journal you will
understand better what it is like to be a missionary kid.
May 27 -
We flew from Ecuador to the U.S. We saw our cousins, aunt, grandma and
grandpa. It was really nice to see them again. When I saw them they looked
much older than before.
June 3 -
We flew to Michigan for a missionary retreat. At the retreat my brother
and I rode horses, went bowling, golfing, played in a lake and did crafts.
It was very fun. We also went jumping on the trampoline with bungee cords
tied to poles.
June
6-10 - We went to a lady's house and stayed there for a few
days. A fun surprise that happened there was when some more cousins came
and picked me and my brother up to go to someone's house where they were
staying. (They are from a different country, too since they are missionaries
in Central America.) We played games and did other things together. A
few days later, my parents, who had been attending meetings somewhere
else, picked us up.
June 15 -
Our family went to Wisconsin. The people we stayed with had a bike and
lots of space on their property. My brother learned how to ride a bicycle.
For me it was re-learning to ride. The reason we didn't know how to ride
a bicycle is that back in Ecuador the streets are very dangerous. Also,
we don't have any space around our apartment.
June 16-27 -
We flew to Seattle, WA. My brother and I went to the YMCA with a friend
of ours. Afterwards, my mom, her friend and I had a tea party. The tea
and food were very good. My brother went with my dad to do something else.
July 1 -
Every Sunday now we are going to a different church. I'm getting used
to it, but I don't like having to get up early.
July 16 -
We moved into a house in Portland, OR. People helped us by lending us
the necessary things since we didn't have anything.
July 29-31 -
My dad is gone to Central America to teach church leaders how to teach
discipleship classes to others. My mom, brother and I miss him a lot.
I really like home assignment because I can meet new friends and relatives,
but when I do come here I really miss my friends in Ecuador.
