SCOD
is formed by the General Conference of the Free Methodist Church of
North America. Its assignment is to review papers and study topics
of great importance to the church that require research and thorough
consideration beyond the time available to committees during the general
conference sessions.
Priority topics that arose out of the 2003 General Conference and
are currently being considered by SCOD include: a review of Chapter
3 of the Book of Discipline (The Christian Journey), perspecitves
on confidentiality and secrecy, and providing teaching resources for
the Bishops' Council in their consideration of the revision of Article
XII on Sanctification.
SCOD meets at least annually between general conferences.
