A Developing Strategy of FMCNA Response to Hurricane Katrina

1. Secure several team leaders eager to serve and able to organize and motivate leaders.

2. Through the Christian community in the affected area, identify poor and uninsured families and churches whose properties have been destroyed or heavily damaged.

3. Select a team of retired Free Methodists who will do the prep work of identification of needs, securing permits and exploring the availability of state and federal resources.

4. Begin sending teams, when needed permits are secured, who will provide care, remodel, rebuild, and share the gospel.

5. Strategically locate a large tent, holding evening meetings for affected communities where good music, good teaching, emerging friendships and good food can be shared.

6. Secure a general overseer volunteer to monitor, evaluate and dispense funds as needed.

  • All participants provided with work shirts and hats with appropriate identifying and hope-filled design.
  • Pray that God will raise up potential church planters to follow-up on the converts and establish congregations.
