January 22 - A request for funds to assist earthquake victims in El Salvador was received from the Free Methodist Church in Downey, California. Persons in the Downey church had relatives and friends who have been affected and are in need. The funds were sent and used to buy construction materials to build temporary shelters, to rebuild a pastor's house in the small town of Tepecoyo, to provide clothing and shoes, as well as medicine and educational materials.

March 16 - A request for assistance to Zimbabwe had been received from Bishop Abner Chauke. The farmers in the Chiredzi and Chikombedzi Conferences of Zimbabwe are experiencing drought. Following the floods of last year when they lost their crops, this year the drought has kept the crops from growing and many are experiencing hunger.

March 16 - A request from Bishop Jim Tuan of Philippines indicates that due to flooding in parts of Mindanao, many farms are under water which will take weeks to subside. The farmers will have to replant their crops. Funds were sent to help these farmers with food and resources to replant.

April 27 - A request for assistance was received from Leonard Roller, missionary in Malawi. The southern part of the country experienced major flooding in areas, and home and crops were lost. Funds were sent to provide bags of maize to needy people. The church used this as an opportunity for outreach.

June 28 - The Mission Director in Peru wrote that the earthquake in southern Peru was felt the strongest in the town of Arequipa. The nearby towns of Moquegua and Tacan also experienced damage and loss. Tacna is where the work of the Free Methodist Church is located. There have been thirty fatalities in Tacna, and many homes destroyed. None of our church people died, but several families are homeless. Funds were sent for temporary housing, medicine, food and water.

December 3 - Mozambique - to provide food in Gaza Province and Vilanculos at Inhambane where people are starving
