God's Guidance Through Poetry
Written by Neal A. Carl

This book of poetry is unique! While God was inspiring the writing of these poems through me, He was also giving me guidance with the many trials and topics we deal with on a daily basis. I know He will speak to you too. Many of us learn by doing, even when dealing with new situations at work, home, etc. God uses many avenues in which to reach His children. May God bless you!

Available through Authorhouse.com (or 1-888-280-7715), Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com and Neal's site.

I Saw the Inmate Praying

I saw the inmate down on his knees.
I could hear his wondering pleas;

I’m only an inmate what can I do?
What kind of service can I give you?
I’m here in jail for the crimes I’ve done.
Who would listen to me, I can’t think of one?
Tell me Lord Jesus, what can I give?
What can I do behind these walls where I live?

The inmate looked up to see me there.
He said this was the answer to his prayer;

Let Me tell you My child, this is what I ask.
I want you to serve Me there and help with My task. Read your Bible and spread the word.
Hold Bible studies so My message is heard.
Follow My teaching and do what I say.
Stand as My witness living the right way.
Be filled with compassion, kindness and love.
Continually pray to My Father above.
Serve Me in the jail you can still do so much good.
Treat those who are there as your neighborhood.
Encourage and teach them to come to Me in prayer.
Be a reflection of the relationship we share.
Seek Me in the stillness, close your cell door.
Stay focused on Me so I can teach you more.
I have not cast you away from My face.
I will always show you mercy and grace!

I Cried For You

Before you were born,
I cried for you.
I saw your future,
And all you'd go through.

The trials you'd face,
And the sins you'd commit.
Refusing to listen to,
My Holy Spirit.

You wanted to do,
Things on your own.
Then when things went wrong,
You'd call out to me and moan.

You'll break my heart,
With the choice you make.
The directions you'll go,
And all of your mistakes.

Then you'll come back,
And call Me your own.
And I'll cry for you,
And welcome you home!

An Extension of Christ

Do you consider yourself,
An extension of Christ?
Witnessing to the lost so,
They can have changed lives.
Being Jesus' extension,
With your hands and feet;
Reflecting Jesus' love,
With those you meet.
Walking in His path,
No matter how long.
Speaking of Him to others,
In word, deed, and song.
As others look at,
Who you really are;
Do they see Jesus,
Or your sinful scars?
Is your body moving,
To complete His task?
Or is spiritual motivation,
What you really lack?
As Christ's extension,
We are used by His Spirit.
Carrying His message to,
Those who will hear it.
They must see Jesus,
In the life that we live.
Otherwise, what kind of witness,
Do we really give?
So think about this:
Are you Christ's extension?
You only get one chance,
To make a good first impression.
